Cassidy Janson to star in 'Burlesque the Musical'
Cassidy Janson is known for her performances as Anne Hathaway in & Juliet, as well as credits in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Chess, Company, and more.
Olivier Award winner Cassidy Janson will star as Tess Richarde in Burlesque the Musical when it begins performances as new London venue The Arts at Marble Arch this September.
Based on Steven Antin’s 2010 film starring Christina Aguilera and Cher, Burlesque the Musical follows Ali as she heads to New York in search of her mother. Once there, she is drawn into a world, which sets her on an entirely different path.
Janson said: “I am beyond excited to be joining Burlesque - and in a brand-new West End theatre no less! The songs are huge, the glamour is off the charts, and the costumes are absolutely INSANE Honestly? The West End is not ready for this level of fabulous.”
Antin added: “As played by the legendary Cher, Tess became an iconic character. We are thrilled to have Cassidy lead the West End company in this pivotal role. She’s glamorous, funny, fierce, wildly talented - and she has the sass and heart that make Tess unforgettable.”
Janson is known for her performances as Anne Hathaway in & Juliet, as well as credits in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Chess, Company, Avenue Q, Wicked, Candide, Tick, Tick… Boom!, Lend Me a Tenor, and Man of La Mancha.
The musical features songs by Christina Aguilera, Sia, Diane Warren, Jess Folley, Todrick Hall, and Steven Antin.
