Full casting has now been announced for the upcoming revival of Mart Crowley's play The Boys in the Band which will run at The Park Theatre in Finsbury Park from 28 September to 30 October 2016, with an official opening on 4 October 2016.
Olivier Award winner Mark Gatiss will star alongside his husband Ian Hallard in the roles of 'Harold' and 'Michael', as previously announced. They will be joined by Daniel Boys as 'Donald', EastEnders' star Jack Derges as 'Cowboy', Miranda star James Holmes as 'Emory', Midsomer Murders' John Hopkins as 'Alan', Primeval's Ben Mansfield as 'Larry', and Nathan Nolan as 'Hank', with further casting to be announced.
"There's a party about to commence when nine men gather in a New York apartment for a birthday celebration. Harold, a self-confessed 'Jew fairy', receives a surprise birthday gift - a beautiful male hustler dubbed Cowboy. Meanwhile, party host Michael gets an unwanted surprise of his own in the shape of a figure from his past. As the booze is drunk and the dope smoked, the mood swings from hilarity to heart-break."
Directed by Adam Penford, it will feature designs by Rebecca Bower, sound design by James Nicholson and lighting design by Jack Weir.
The Boys in the Band premiered in 1968 just before the Stonewall riots. It was adapted into a film in 1970 and was last revived in New York in 2010. This UK revival will mark almost 20 years since the last West End production.
Following the London run, the production will embark on a short UK Tour visiting The Lowry Salford, Theatre Royal Brighton and the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
Tickets for the production are now on sale.
