Chess in Concert at Royal Albert Hall 12th & 13 May

Chess in Concert will be at the Royal Albert Hall for 2 perfomances - 12th & 13 May 2008.

The musical has Book by Tim Rice, Music by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, Lyrics by Tim Rice, Adapted and directed by Hugh Wooldridge.

The concert is introduced by Tim Rice and features US recording artiste Josh Groban (The Russian) and Broadway's and West End's Wicked Idina Menzel (Florence).

Chess in Concert involves a romantic triangle between two players in a World Chess Championship, and the woman who manages one and falls in love with the other. Although the protagonists were not intended to represent any specific individuals, the characters' personalities are loosely based on those of Victor Korchnoi and Bobby Fischer.

These concerts will be unlike any other version of Chess. The story has been streamlined and the production is to be a rock show with a 50-piece orchestra (The City of London Philharmonic), a 100 strong choir (the West End Chorus), and the largest pipe organ in Europe.

The show has lighting by Malcolm Rippeth, choreography by Kevan Allen, conducted by David Firman and produced by Heartaches Ltd.
