Award-winning lyricist Don Black returns to the West End with his show From The Heart, which begins performances at the Garrick Theatre on 8 October, running through 18 October.
Returning from last year's run are Olivier Award winner Clive Rowe (Guys and Dolls, Hadestown) and Caroline O'Connor (Chicago, Mack and Mabel). Joining them for this new production is Olivier Award nominee Michael Xavier (Sunset Boulevard, Into The Woods). Nick Winston (Bonnie & Clyde, Calamity Jane) directs, with musical direction by Joe Church (Mayflies, Peter Pan) and arrangements by Nick Barstow (Next To Normal, Wizard of Oz).
From The Heart is Black’s tribute to the New York cabaret scene that inspired his career. The show features new songs, with music written in collaboration with composers like Gary Barlow, Natasha Bedingfield, David Arnold, Debbie Wiseman, and Mike Batt. The production also includes Black’s most well-known songs, including "Born Free", "Ben", "Love Changes Everything", "With One Look", "To Sir With Love", and "As If We Never Said Goodbye". At every show a surprise special guest will take to the stage.
Black, who won a Tony Award for Sunset Boulevard last year, also has credits including Aspects of Love, Tell Me on a Sunday, The Italian Job, and five James Bond themes.
Don Black said, "I've been working on this show for as long as I can remember which proves that some dreams can take a long time to come true."
