The full cast joining actress Samantha Bond in The Lie at the Menier Chocolate Factory has been announced.

Florian Zeller's play is about a woman, Alice, who sees her friend's husband with another woman. She is torn on whether to tell her friend or lie to her, the latter being what her husband Paul believes she should do. Should she lie to her friend, or would she be better off none the wiser?

The cast includes James Dreyfus, Tony Gardner and Alexandra Gilbreath.

James Dreyfus is known for his performances in the television sitcoms The Thin Blue Line and Gimme Gimme Gimme alongside Kathy Burke, but has also appeared many times on stage, including the 2015 play Harvey, as the Emcee in Cabaret and in The Producers at Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Tony Gardner has appeared on stage in productions of The Rivals, Where There's a Will and Bedroom Farce, as well as the television programmes Fresh Meat, Last Tango in Halifax and Bluestone 42.

Alexandra Gilbreath will appear in The Lie following her performance in Dessert at Southwark Playhouse. She won the Ian Charleson Award in 1996 and has gone on to perform many times with the Royal Shakespeare Company in productions of The Merry Wives of Windsor and The Rover.

The Lie premiered in Paris and is the follow up to Zeller's Olivier-nominated play The Truth. It gets its English language premiere at the Menier, translated by Christopher Hampton, and is directed by Lindsay Posner.
