Joining the previously announced James McAvoy in the titular role include Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Roxane, Cyrano's love interest. Previous West End credits include King Lear at the Duke of York's Theatre, as well as productions including Twelfth Night at Shakespeare's Globe and Fury at Soho Theatre.

Eben Figueiredo will play Christian, with theatre credits including Young Marx at the Bridge Theatre, Primetime at the Royal Court and Peter Pan at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.

The cast of Cyrano de Bergerac is completed by Michele Austin, Adam Best, Sam Black, Nari Blair-Mangat, Philip Cairns, Tom Edden, Chris Fung, Adrian Der Gregorian, Carla Harrison-Hodge, Seun Shote, Kiruna Stamell, Nima Taleghani, Vaneeka Dadhria, Mika Johnson and Brinsley Terence.

Originally written by Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac has been adapted by Martin Crimp for the Jamie Lloyd Company's upcoming season. The play will follow Cyrano, a talented 17th-century playwright who pursues a woman named Roxane. While he may seem to have a glittering career, his outlook on life is plagued by narcissistic views around him, as Cyrano uses language in order to allure his lover.

Jamie Lloyd directs Cyrano de Bergerac, with previous directorial credits including Evita at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, Betrayal at the Harold Pinter Theatre and Doctor Faustus at the Duke of York's Theatre.

Cyrano de Bergerac is at the Playhouse Theatre from 27th November.
