Young Vic announces final shows in 2026/27 season

A one-off special event focused on the trial of Gisèle Pelicot and an immersive, binaural sound experience inside a shipping container form part of the Young Vic's 2026/7 season.

The Young Vic has announced the final four shows in its 2026/7 season.

Milo Rau and Servane Dècle’s The Pelicot Trial will receive its UK premiere at London County Hall, which has been home to Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution since 2017. The documentary theatre comprises testimonies and written accounts from the trial of Gisèle Pelicot’s case. This special one-off event will be performed by a company of 30 actors and public figures on 30 November.

Former Royal Ballet Principal Edward Watson will star as the Hunger Artist alongside international performance artist Meow Meow as the Impresario in a reimagining of Franz Kafka’s short story A Hunger Artist. The immersive work will "utilise music, song, dance and theatre to explore sacrifice, obsession, and the relentless pursuit of perfection", and is brought to the stage by choreographer Arthur Pita, with live music by Frank Moon. The show will play in The Maria Theatre from 9-26 June 2027.

Disability-led theatre company FlawBored present the London premiere of What’s the F--king Point, written by Samuel Brewer, Aarian Mehrabani, Chloe Palmer and Josh Roche, who also directs. The satire will "skewer medical bureaucracy, identity politics and our desperate human need to feel significant", and runs in The Maria Theatre from 2-24 April 2027.

Immersive theatre producers DARKFIELD will place audiences in complete darkness in a shipping container outside the Young Vic for Eulogy, which uses binaural sound and speech recognition technology to play with the senses. The experience will run from 24 March - 24 April 2027.

The Young Vic has also announced Lashana Lynch (The Day of the Jackal) to lead the world premiere of debbie tucker green's dissent. Meanwhile, Deanna H. Choi and Glyn Pritchard will join Ben Whishaw and Kathryn Hunter in the world premiere of Colin Teevan’s adaptation of Christian Kracht’s Eurotrash, directed by Walter Meierjohann.

"Milo Rau’s extraordinary testimonial piece The Pelicot Trial breaks out beyond our theatre walls to County Hall; a piece of confronting event-theatre which bears witness to the harrowing story of Gisèle Pelicot. We also join forces with the ever-innovative DARKFIELD to present their binaural piece Eulogy which is conjured up in the pitch darkness of a shipping container parked outside The Young Vic.

"Meanwhile in our Maria Studio we have What’s the F--king Point a new satire by the mischievous and subversive FlawBored theatre company, and A Hunger Artist which brings the latest collaboration between choreographer Arthur Pita, prolific dancer Ed Watson and Australian cabaret star Meow Meow in this physical retelling of Kafka’s twisted tale. Nothing about these pieces are ‘meat and two veg’ trad-theatre!"
