Georgina Onuorah to role share with Danielle Fiamanya in 'Brigadoon'
Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's musical tells the story of fighter pilots Tommy and Jeff, who crash land in the mystical village of Brigadoon.
Georgina Onuorah will join the cast of Brigadoon at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in London when performances begin on 2 August. She will share the role of Fiona MacLaren with Danielle Fiamanya.
The musical, which has book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe, is a new adaptation by Scottish playwright Rona Munro. It tells the story of fighter pilots Tommy and Jeff, who crash land in the mystical village of Brigadoon — a dreamline place that isn't quite what is seems. Drew McOnie choreographs and directs.
Onuorah, whose credits include Kiss Me, Kate, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella, and The Wizard of Oz, recently starred in the outdoor venue's production of Shucked.
On the announcement, McOnie said: “I'm delighted that Georgina Onuorah is returning to Regent's Park to join the company of Brigadoon alongside Danielle Fiamanya in the role of Fiona McLaren. I’m so excited to see how these two brilliant performers develop the job share of this role together. The rehearsal process for Brigadoon has been thrilling and I can’t wait for audiences to enjoy this gorgeous classic of musical theatre once again on a London stage.”
