‘Just For One Day – The Live Aid Musical’ to transfer to the West End
After a succesful run at The Old Vic, the stage adaptation of the famed concert will transfer to the West End in July 2025, 40 years after the original.
It was one of the most successful and memorable concerts ever performed, one of the most astonishing feats of spectacle, and all for charity. Now, it's a stage spectacular. Just for One Day - The Live Aid Musical will transfer to the West End in July 2025 at the Shaftesbury Theatre.
Originally organized as an effort to probide relief to the ongoing famine in Ethiopia throughout 1983 through 1985, the Live Aid concert brought together icons of rock and roll - like U2, Queen, and David Bowie - together, staged at both Wembley Stadium in London and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, as well as being broadcast live to an estimated 1.9 billion viewers.
Just For One Day - The Live Aid Musical tells the story of how it all happened, with Craig Els playing mastermind and producer of the concert Bob Geldof. After a record-breaking world premiere at The Old Vic, the musical, written by John O’Farrell and directed by Luke Sheppard, will start with a special gala performance on 13 July, 40 years to the date after the original iconic concert.
Continuing the legacy of the original charity concert, 10% from the sale of tickets will be donated directly to The Band Aid Charitable Trust.
Performances at the Shaftesbury Theatre will continue until 10 January 2026.
