Legally Blonde confirmed at Savoy from 5 Dec 2009

It is now confirmed that Legally Blonde The Musical, will open at the Savoy Theatre 12 Jan 2010, following previews from 5 Dec - booking to 23 May 2010.

The show, which has music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, book by Heather Hach. Orchestrations by Christopher Jahnke, will feature Sheridan Smith (Elle Woods), Duncan James (Warner), Alex Gaumond (Emmett). (Further casting to be announced).

It is directed & choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, designed by David Rockwell, costumes by Gregg Barnes, lighting by Kenneth Posner and Paul Miller, sound by ACME Sound Partners. Produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Robert G Bartner, Ambassador Theatre Group and Jamie Hendry Productions.

College sweetheart and homecoming queen Elle Woods doesn't take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend dumps her for someone serious, Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law! Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Sheridan Smith is best known for her many TV roles which include eight series of Two Pints of Lager & A Packet of Crisps, two series of Grown Ups, two series of Love Soup and four series of Benidorm. She made her West End debut as Tallulah in the National Youth Music Theatre production of "Bugsy Malone" at the Queen's Theatre in 1997. Her other London stage credits include "Into the Woods" at the Donmar Warehouse in 1998; "A Midsummer Night's Dream" & "The Taming of the Shrew" at he Open Air REgent's Park in 2006; "A Little Shop of Horrors" at the Duke of York's & New Ambassadors in 2007.

Duncan James is an original member of the chart-topping band Blue. In 2007 he was a finalist in ITV's Dancing on Ice and later that year he joined the West End cast of Chicago to play Billy Flynn.

Alex Gaumond's London stage credits include Desperately Seaking Susan at the Novello in 2007 & "The Full Monty" at the Prince of Wales in 2002.
