Maria Friedman to star in ‘A Journey to the Past’ concert

The musical theatre event will celebrate songs by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

UPDATE: A Journey to the Past will now take place on 12 September.

What do Ragtime, Anastasia and Once on this Island all have in common? They feature original scores by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. A Journey to the Past concert will celebrate their music in the West End. A Journey to the Past is at the Lyric Theatre on 6 June.

Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty are a Tony-winning writing team. Their shows include Seussical and Lucky Stiff. They’ve got two upcoming shows: Knoxville and Little Dancer.

Maria Friedman directs and stars in the concert. She will sing “Back to Before” from Ragtime.

Principal cast members include Carrie Hope Fletcher, Rob Houchen, Cedric Neal, Lucy St Louis and Summer Strallen. They’ll be joined by Georgia Anderson, Jordan Cunningham, Jemal Felix, Teddy Hinde, Claudia Kariuki, Nardia Ruth, Hana Stewart and Rodney Vubya.

The concert features choreography by Nathan M Wright and a set and lighting design by Andrew Exeter.

A Journey to the Past is at the Lyric Theatre.
