Mark Strong and Lesley Manville to star in 'Oedipus' in the West End

Director Robert Icke originally presented his version Sophocles' tragedy at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam and at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Mark Strong and Lesley Manville are set to star in a new production of Oedipus in the West End. The play will open at Wyndham’s Theatre in October 2024.

Sophocles’ play, adapted and directed by Robert Icke, was originally presented in Dutch at Internationaal Theater Amsterdam and at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Strong, who will play Oedipus, was last seen on stage in Icke’s The Red Barn at the National Theatre in 2016. Manville will play Jocasta, mother and wife to Oedipus, and recently starred in seasons five and six of The Crown as Princess Margaret.
