Max Martin musical & Juliet to open in London starring Miriam Teak-Lee
A new musical featuring the back catalogue of songwriter Max Martin based on William Shakespeare's character Juliet is set to open at the Shaftesbury Theatre later this year, it has been announced.
Martin's extensive works include songs such as Britney Spears' "Oops... I Did It Again", Backstreet Boys' "Everybody", Ellie Goulding's "Love Me Like You Do", and The Weeknd's "I Can't Feel My Face", all of which feature in the show titled & Juliet.
The story of the show, written by David West Read, follows Shakespeare's Juliet who is getting over Romeo by escaping to Paris with Nurse and her best friends. & Juliet is set to open at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 2nd November following a limited season in Manchester from 10th September. Tickets will be available in February.
Directed by Luke Shepherd, Miriam Teak-Lee will take on the lead role of Juliet in the musical. Her previous stage credits include On The Town at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, and she was a member of the ensemble in the original West End cast of Hamilton.
The musical will also feature choreography by Jennifer Weber, set design by Soutra Gilmour, costumes by Paloma young, lighting by Howard Hudson, sound design by Gareth Owen, and orchestrations by Bill Sherman, with further casting and creatives set to be announced.
& Juliet is at the Shaftesbury Theatre from 2nd November, with an official opening night on 20th November.
& Juliet tickets go on sale from 11th February.
