New song released from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s forthcoming musical 'Cinderella'
Carrie Hope Fletcher sings 'Bad Cinderella' ahead of the world premiere.
A new song, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by David Zippel, has been released from the forthcoming West End musical Cinderella. "Bad Cinderella" is sung by Carrie Hope Fletcher, who takes on the title role in the show.
This marks the second tune released from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cinderella, following the September debut of a video for "Far Too Late."
It has also been announced that performances of Cinderella have been postponed. The musical will now begin previews on 30 April, ahead of an opening night at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on 19 May 2021.
Set to "completely reinvent the world's best-loved fairytale," Cinderella features a book by Emerald Fennell, the Emmy-award nominated head writer of Killing Eve. David Zippel (City of Angels, Hercules, and Mulan) is the lyricist.
In addition to Hope Fletcher, the cast will include Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as The Stepmother. No further casting has been announced, although workshop performances of the show included Olivier-Award winners Ruthie Henshall and Tyrone Huntley, as well as Gary Wilmot, Sophie Isaacs and Rebecca Trehearn. Laurence Connor (School of Rock, Miss Saigon) directs the show, with choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter. The creative team also includes set and costume design by Gabriela Tylesova, sound design by Gareth Owen, lighting design by Bruno Poet.
