The Park Theatre has named the complete cast for its autumn production of the new musical The Pianist, running from 15 October to 28 November only.
Joining the previously announced Daniel Krikler in the title role of Wladyslaw Szpilman are Rosalind Ford as Mother, Oliver Grant as Hosenfeld, TJ Holmes as Father, Mischa Jardine as Janina, Elżbieta Kalicka as Regina, Nitai Levi as Henryk, Melania Maggiore as Halina, Max Roll as Gimpel/Majorek, and ensemble members Oliver Magor and Erin Rowlatt.
The Pianist is adapted from Szpilman's internationally acclaimed memoir, in which he reflects on his life as one of Poland's most celebrated composers and musicians and his survival of the Holocaust. His story also inspired Roman Polanski’s Academy Award-winning film of the same name.
The stage musical features Szpilman's compositions set to new lyrics by two-time Grammy nominee Carol Connors, David Batteau, Wendy Lands, Jim Gillard, Grammy nominee Michael Ruff, Szpilman’s son Andreas Szpilman, and Marcy Heisler.
The Pianist also has new arrangements, musical supervision, and orchestrations by Simon Lee; choreography and movement direction by Karen Bruce; set and video design by Andrzej Goulding; lighting design by Robbie Butler; sound design by Gareth Tucker for Autograph Sound; costume design by Jonathan Lipman; and musical direction by Malcolm Forbes-Peckham. Thom Southerland adapts and directs The Pianist.
