Phoenix Season extended at Battersea Arts Centre

Battersea Arts Centre has announced an extension of its Phoenix Season, which celebrates the reopening of its grand hall after a fire that burned the theatre down in 2015.

From 20th February 2019, Bryony Kimmings I'm a Phoenix, Bitch returns to Battersea Arts Centre, following a successful first run in 2018. A theatre maker, comedian and activist who has starred in Channel 4's The Sex Clinic: Artist in Residence, Bryony Kimming's show explores motherhood in a compelling story, where all performances will be relaxed. I'm a Phoenix, Bitch will play until 9th March 2019.

The BAC Beatbox Academy and Battersea Arts Centre will bring Frankenstein: How To Make A Monster back to the venue. With inspiration from the tale by Mary Shelley, the BAC Beatbox Academy will bring Frankenstein to life in an innovative way. Since the company started, it has performed at iconic venues across the UK including Latitude Festival and The Royal Festival Hall. The show will run from 12th March 2019 to 29th March 2019.

The original run of the Phoenix Season includes Return to Elm House, where timekeepers travel through the past to learn about Jeanie Nassau Senior, a welfare campaigner and co-founder of the British Red Cross. Brought to Battersea Arts Centre in collaboration with Little Bulb Theatre is Orpheus, a retelling of the Greek myth fusing 1930s Paris with Ancient Greece in an exciting musical performance featuring compositions from Bach and Debussy.

keep. is a play set to look at the relationship between past and present through the objects you have and what it means to live your life to the full. keep. is written by Daniel Kitson, an award-winning comedian who has toured his productions around the world.

Battersea Arts Centre celebrate the reopening of its Grand Hall with the Phoenix Season, a season named as a nod to the fire that devastated it in 2015. The new space has featured performances from National Theatre of Scotland and acting companies including Gecko and Lekan Lawal.
