Rufus Hound and Katy Brand join Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the West End
New casting has been announced for the West End production of Everybody's Talking About Jamie, with Rufus Hound and Katy Brand set to join the show next month.
It's a big year for the musical, as the production embarks on a UK tour starring Layton Williams, and a major motion picture set to star Richard E. Grant, Sharon Horgan and Sarah Lancashire being released in October.
But the original production continues to run at the Apollo Theatre, where it is now in its third year and continuing to play to sell-out audiences.
Rufus Hound and Katy Brand join the cast
Rufus Hound is known in the West end for her performances in the likes of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, One Man Two Guvnors, Wind in the Willows and, most recently, the RSC's Don Quixote at the Garrick Theatre.
Audiences will also recognise him from his screen appearances in shows such as Doctor Who, Trollied, and seven series of ITV panel show Celebrity Juice.
Hound, who joins the cast to play Hugo/Loco Chanelle, said he was "absolutely thrilled" to be joining the cast, adding: "have been waxing for the last year in anticipation and am currently so tucked I may as well be a Ken doll. Bring. It. On."
Katy Brand comes into the cast to play Jamie's schoolteacher Miss Hedge. Brand is known as a writer and actor, with writing credits including her own sketch show Katy Brand's Big Ass Show, as well as News Quiz and Peep Show, as well as the play 3Women which played Trafalgar Studios last year.
Her acting credits include Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, Peep Show and Grandpa's Great Escape, and of her new role, she said: If I could tell my teenage self that I would one day have the chance to perform in a huge hit show on the West End stage, that girl would pinch herself. Jamie gets to realise his dream every night, and now so do I!"
Brand will play the role from 3rd March to 20th June, while Hound comes in to the show from 16th March to 30th May.
