Slaves by Rex Obano at Theatre503 from 26 Jan 2010

Slaves by Rex Obano, at Theatre503, a fringe venue Battersea in south London, from 26 Jan to 20 Feb 2010.

Directed by Nadia Latif, design by Lorna Ritchie, lighting by Michael Nabarro, sound by John Leonard.

Slaves is a portrait of prison life on both sides of the bars.

Rex Obano started writing Slaves while working in HMP Wandsworth: "Whenever we ask why people commit a crime or why they are willing to kill or die for a cause, the answer is invariably fear. I was afraid every day I spent working in prison; of inmates, officers and myself. We are united by fear and it is this fear that makes slaves of us all."
