Chrissy, wake up! There's a new Stranger Things play opening in London this year.
Stranger Things: The First Shadow will begin previews at the Phoenix Theatre on 17 November, ahead of an opening night on 14 December. Get Stranger Things: The First Shadow tickets on London Theatre.
Information on casting, a full creative team, and a performance schedule will be announced at a later date.
The Stranger Things play will allow audiences to understand what happened in Hawkins, Indiana, before the action in the television series. Press material states: "Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s car won’t start, Bob Newby’s sister won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy… and the shadows of the past have a very long reach."
Stranger Things writer and co-executive producer Kate Trefy pens the original story, with additional ideas from the Duffer Brothers, and Jack Thorne.
Stephen Daldry directs, with co-direction by Justin Martin, set design by Miriam Buether, costume design by Brigitte Reiffenstuel, lighting design by Jon Clark, and sound design by Paul Arditti.
