The Globe announces casting for Summer of Love Season

Casting announced for Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night.

Shakespeare's Globe have today announced casting for two productions in Emma Rice's 2017 Summer of Love Season, which opens at the historic Southbank venue on 22 April 2017.

Romeo and Juliet will star Edward Hogg as Romeo, Kirsty Bushell as Juliet, Golda Rosheuvel as Mercutio, Martina Laird as Lady Capulet, as well as Jac Adu-Sarkodie, Siobhan Athwal, Ricky Champ, Tim Chipping, Blythe Duff, Keith Gilmore, Jonathan Livingstone, Sian Martin, Harish Patel and Gareth Snook.

Directed by theatre and opera director, and Artistic Director of the English National Opera, Daniel Kramer, Romeo and Juliet will run from 22 April to 9 July 2017, with an official opening on 27 April.

Emma Rice will direct the comedy Twelfth Night which will star George Ikediashi, also known as award-winning drag performer Le Gateau Chocolat as Feste, along with a full company that includes Marc Antolin, Carly Bawden, Nandi Bhebhe, Tony Jayawardena, Joshua Lacey, Pieter Lawman, Annette McLaughlin, Kandaka Moore, Katy Owen, John Pfumojena, Theo St Clair and Anita-Joy Uwajeh.

Twelfth Night runs from 18 May to 5 August 2017, with an official opening on 24 May 2017.

The Summer of Love Season will mark Emma Rice's final season as Artistic Director of The Globe Theatre.
