‘The Gruffalo’s Child’ to entertain families at Alexandra Palace Theatre this Christmas
Alexandra Palace will also have an ice rink and cinema screenings throughout the season.
Plans for this Christmas season at Alexandra Palace have been announced, including a family production of The Gruffalo's Child. Previously performed at the Lyric Theatre, The Gruffalo's Child is at Alexandra Palace Theatre from 28 November - 3 Jan. 2021.
Olivia Jacobs, director of The Gruffalo's Child said of the show's return: "We're thrilled to be performing 'The Gruffalo's Child' for audiences at Alexandra Palace this Christmas. It's been a really tough year, so we're thrilled to have found a safe and beautiful home for the show and to be able to bring some joy, fun and laughter to families over the festive period."
Based on the picture book by Julia Donaldson, with illustrations by Axel Scheffler, the book tells of the Gruffalo's child as she ventures into the snow. Unafraid of what could come her way, she doesn't believe the Big Bad Mouse exists, but does he? The Gruffalo's Child is the sequel to The Gruffalo, regularly staged across London's theatres.
The Gruffalo's Child is produced by Tall Stories, a family-friendly theatre company whose shows include The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and The Snail and the Whale.
As well as The Gruffalo's Child, Alexandra Palace will also be home to Santa's Grotto throughout December and a wintry ice rink. The Christmas film season at Alexandra Palace will run during December too, with films including Elf and Die Hard.
