The Night Alive new play by Conor McPherson at Donmar

The Donmar Warehouse has announced The Night Alive, a new play by Conor McPherson, and the cast for McPherson's previously announced The Weir.

The Night Alive, world premiere of a new play written and directed by Conor McPherson, opens 19 June 2013, following previews from 13 June, running to 27 July 2013. (Public Booking opens 5 April 2013). Cast includes Jim Norton (Maurice), Ciaran Hinds (Tommy), Caoilfhionn Dunne (Aimee), Brian Gleeson (Kenneth), Michael McElhatton (Doc). Tommy's not a bad man, he's getting by. Renting a rundown room in his uncle Maurice's house, just about keeping his ex-wife and kids at arm's length and rolling from one get-rich-quick scheme to the other with his pal Doc. Then one day he comes to the aid of Aimee, who's not had it easy herself, struggling through life the only way she knows how. Their past won't let go easily. But together there's a glimmer of hope they could make something more of their lives.

Cast announced for previously announced The Weir, by Conor McPherson, which opens 25 April 2013, following previews from 18 April - running to 8 June 2013. Directed by Josie Rourke, the cast includes Brian Cox (Jack), Dervla Kirwan (Valerie), Ardal O'Hanlon (Jim), Risteard Cooper (Finbar), Peter McDonald (Brendan). In Brendan's pub, isolated above the town, the men are gathering for their daily pint. The arrival of a stranger in their midst - a woman - spurs them to impress her with stories. They are stories of souls past and of spirits very much present. But one story is more chilling and more real than any of the men could have foreseen.
