‘The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical’ to open in the West End
After a world premiere at Chester Storyhouse, the musical will play at the Apollo Theatre in London. Joss Stone provides original music.
Following performances at Chester Storyhouse, The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical will open in the West End in 2023. The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical begins previews at the Apollo Theatre on 7 October, with an opening night on 1 November, and current performances to 30 March 2024.
The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical is based on Audrey Niffenegger’s 2003 novel of the same name, and the 2009 film starring Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams. The story follows Henry and Clare’s whirlwind relationship. Although time keeps them apart, they’re united by their bond, and they try to hold on to each other when they’re pulled away.
“This confident, clever and charming musical by British rock royalty Dave Stewart and Joss Stone shows off their musicianship and director Bill Buckhurst and his creative team have created an incredible world to tell this cherished story in the most powerful and emotional way,” said producer Colin Ingram.
David Hunter will play Henry. His West End credits include Waitress, Kinky Boots and Once. Joanna Woodward will play Clare. She previously understudied the role of Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman: The Musical. Further casting will be announced.
Lauren Gunderson adapts the story for the stage, with original music and lyrics by Joss Stone and Dave Stewart and additional music by Nick Finlow and additional lyrics by Kait Kerrigan.
Bill Buckhurst directs. The show features designs by Anna Fleischle, choreography by Shelley Maxwell, lighting design by Lucy Carter, and sound design by Richard Brooker.
