'Tina - The Tina Turner Musical' to welcome 2 millionth audience member
Charting the live of the trailblazing rock and roll singer, the musical will hold a special celebration in honor of the milestone at the Aldwych Theatre.
What's love got to do with it? Everything. It's love - for music, for rock and roll, and, of course, for Tina Turner herself - that has taken Tina - The Tina Turner Musical to millions of ticketholders in the West End. On 26 September, the show will celebrate its 2 millionth audience member at the Aldwych Theatre, awarding surprise goodies to that guest on the night of the show.
The biographical musical, created in collaboration with Turner herself, examines the life of one of the most legendary women in rock and roll. From her spectacular performances, her unforgettable voice, and the triumphs and tribulations she experienced both in the public eye and privately, Tina is a one-of-a-kind experience in celebration of one of the most important musicians of all time.
With a book by written by Pulitzer Prize winner Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, direction by Phyllida Lloyd, and a cast that includes Karis Anderson and Zoe Birkett sharing the role of Tina and Rolan Bell as Ike Turner, the show has blazed brightly at the Aldwych Theatre since April 2018. It has also played in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Sydney, and New York, where original lead actress Adrienne Warren won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
In London Theatre's four-star review of Tina in the West End, our critic wrote, "It's everything you expected, executed well and packs in a few surprises. Simply the Best? If you're a Tina fan, it'll definitely be pretty close."
