Sutton Foster

Born in Georgia, America in 1975, Sutton Foster is a two-time Tony Award-winning musical theatre actress. Foster made her West End debut in Anything Goesreprising the role of Reno Sweeney.

Growing up in Michigan, Foster showed a keen interest in the arts. In high school, she joined the national tour of The Will Rogers Follies, later studying at Carnegie Mellon University. She then made her Broadway debut in 1996, playing Sandy in Grease, followed by roles in Annie, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Eponine in Les Miserables

At the turn of the millennium, Foster was cast as Millie Dilmount in a La Jolla Playhouse production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. When the musical transferred to Broadway, Foster reprised the role, winning her first Tony Award for best actress in a musical. Following her turn in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Foster became a Broadway regular, in shows such as Little Women, Young Frankenstein and Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical

In 2011, Foster played the leading role of Reno Sweeney in the Broadway revival of Anything Goeswinning her second Tony award for best actress in a musical. In reviews summated on New York Theatre Guide, "As the nightclub evangelist Reno Sweeney in the zesty new revival of 'Anything Goes,' ..., Ms. Foster has the voice of a trumpet and a big, gleaming presence that floods the house."

More recently, she has played title roles in Violet and Sweet Charity. She's soon to star in the Broadway revival of The Music Man opposite Hugh Jackman. But her London debut came in Anything Goes at the Barbican. She'll perform alongside Robert Lindsay, Felicity Kendal and Gary Wilmot.
