Ballast Theatre presents 1938, by Howard Colyer, adapted from Joseph Roth’s 'The Emperor’s Tomb', at the Jack Studio Theatre in Brockley, south London, from 1 to 5 September 2015.
Synopsis: "Late in the evening on 11 March, 1938, a man sits in a Jewish bar in Vienna as the German army invades Austria. The other guests flee – as does the owner – but he remains to contemplate his past and his future: bleak though that may be."
The production is directed by Kate Bannister and performed by David Bromley. Playwright Howard Colyer is the resident playwright at the Jack Studio.
