Hello, Dolly Parton!

She's got 50 studio albums, 11 Grammys, 3 Emmys, an entertainment empire, and a devoted fanbase as big as her personality — and her hair. So it's no surprise that "Queen of Country" Dolly Parton is getting a Broadway musical, too. She won't perform in Dolly: A True Original Musical, but she co-wrote and produced the show, which sets her life story to all her hit songs, like "9 to 5" and "Jolene."

Multiple Broadway stars got 2026 Emmy nominations.

The Emmy Awards, which honour the best of American TV each year, will be held on 14 September with host Mariska Hargitay, who just made her Broadway debut in Every Brilliant Thing. And she'll be in good company, sharing the venue with multiple Emmy nominees who've made the screen-to-stage leap.

Two nominees from The Pitt, Patrick Ball and Sepideh Moafi, appeared on NYC stages this past season, as did three actors from Hacks, including current Oh, Mary! Broadway star Meg Stalter. Other 2026 nominees will perform on Broadway this coming season, like Allison Janney (in Other Desert Cities) and Bradley Whitford (in A Few Good Men). Check out the full list.

Tveit for it — he's back.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical fans have been speculating whether its Tony Award-winning original star, Aaron Tveit, would play one last stint as Christian during the show's final weeks on Broadway. And sure enough, Tveit will return for 15 performances only, so you can hear his "El Tango de Roxanne" once more from 18-29 August. Current star Christian Douglas will close out Moulin Rouge!'s seven-year run on 30 August.

Broadway's getting showered with Purple Rain.

In 1984, Prince made his feature film debut with Purple Rain, which he conceived and starred in as a young musician whose troubled past threatens his dreams of stardom. The movie featured a staggering array of now-iconic Prince hits, like "When Doves Cry" and "I Would Die 4 U" — and now, a musical adaptation of that film comes to Broadway with those tunes and many more. Performances start 12 March at the Majestic Theatre.

Hadestown heated up North American cinemas.

If you were lucky enough to see Hadestown in London while the musical's five original Broadway stars returned, you might see yourself on the big screen right alongside them. The filmed live capture of Hadestown — featuring Reeve Carney, Eva Noblezada, André De Shields, Amber Gray, and Patrick Page alongside the West End ensemble — premiered in North American cinemas to acclaim on 24 July. UK audiences have to wait for it (it's coming!) until October, but in the meantime, why not book a ticket for the live show?

Coming up: A one-of-a-kind, no category musical comes to cinemas

Hadestown isn't the only West End production with a buzzy cinematic release. Six was also filmed live in London and shown in UK cinemas in 2025, and now, US fans can see it in a movie theatre near them from 14 August. Additionally, the recently closed Giant will release its West End proshot in US theatres in November.

Meanwhile, Oh, Mary! was just filmed in the West End with three of its original Broadway cast members, while Stranger Things: The First Shadow was captured on Broadway before both its NYC and London productions close over the holidays. Release dates for both have yet to be announced.
