Amanda Abbington to star in Florian Zeller’s The Son
Full casting has been announced for the upcoming UK premiere of Florian Zeller's play The Son, which will run at the Kiln Theatre from next month.
Amanda Abbington will star in the play, which completes Zeller's trilogy that included The Father and The Mother, and was nominated for 9 Molière awards following its French premiere.
It is about a family on the verge of breakdown, while son Nicolas is skipping school, lying to his parents and hiding things away in his room.
Abbington's previous stage credits in London include God Bless This Child at the Royal Court, Love Me Tonight at the Hampstead Theatre, and a semi-staged production of A Little Princess at Royal Festival Hall. She will play Anne in The Son.
The cast also includes Laurie Kynaston (Nicola), Amaka Okafor (Sofia), Martin Turner (The Doctor) and Oseloka Obi (Nurse).
Michael Longhurst, whose production of Caroline, Or Change currently runs at the Playhouse Theatre in the West End, directs the play, which has been translated, like Zeller's other English language productions, by Christopher Hampton.
The production will also have designs by Lizzie Clachan, lighting by Lee Curran, compositions and sound designs by Isobel Waller-Bridge, and castings by Amy Ball.
The Son is at the Kiln Theatre from 20th February to 6th April.
