America Ferrera joins cast of Chicago

Ugly Betty star America Ferrera plays the role of Roxie Hart in Chicago The Musical which will reopen on 7 November 2011 booking to 26 January 2013 at the Garrick Theatre.

The show opened 18 Nov 1997 at the Adelphi before transferring to the Cambridge in April 2006, where it played to over two million people during a five year run, is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. This production has choreography by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and is directed by Walter Bobbie.

This musical exploration of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery -- all those things that we hold dear to our hearts. Chicago follows not your usual housewife, Roxie Hart, who gains dubious notoriety when she kills her boyfriend, invents her defense and manipulates everyone from her trustworthy husband to the fickle media and the unsuspecting public. Featuring well known songs, 'All That Jazz,' 'Razzle Dazzle' and 'Mr. Cellophane'.

The cast has yet to be announced.
