Following the Shakespeare season on The Shows Must Go On! YouTube channel, a brand new series has been confirmed. The new season will celebrate Tony Award-winning productions, kicking off with An American in Paris this Friday, 27 November.

Inspired by the Academy Award-winning film of the same name, the musical follows Jerry Mulligan, an American GI in post World War Two France as he pursues his dream of being a painter. Walking around the streets of Paris, he meets Lise, and the pair immediately hit it off.

An American in Paris made its Broadway premiere at the Palace Theatre on 12 Apr. 2015, receiving 12 Tony Award nominations and winning four. The cast includes Robert Fairchild as Jerry Mulligan and Leanne Cope as Les Dassin, alongside Veanne Cox, Jill Paice, Brandon Uranowitz and Max von Essen.

The musical eventually transferred to London's Dominion Theatre in 2017, with Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope reprising their performances. In a review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Mark Shenton said: "An American in Paris is a dance musical with grace, grit and Gershwin: a winning combination if ever there was one."

Audiences can enjoy all of their favourite Gershwin melodies in An American in Paris, including "I Got Rhythm", "The Man I Love" and "They Can't Take That Away From Me."

An American in Paris is available to watch online on 27 November at 7pm for 48 hours. Watch An American in Paris below.
