The Olivier Award-winning play Baby Reindeer will be coming to television, it has been announced. Richard Gadd's autobiographical play will be adapted for an eight-part television series, commissioned by Netflix.

Written and performed by Gadd, Baby Reindeer tells of his experience being stalked, leading to further years of torment. Originally premiering at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Baby Reindeer made its London debut at the Bush Theatre in 2019, with a subsequent West End transfer to the Ambassadors Theatre. Unfortunately, the West End transfer has been postponed, as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In an interview with Gadd, Baby Reindeer has a "constant introspective analysis... The main lesson is don't toy with people's emotions should be the personal thing. From a social perspective, there should be outrage in how the system can treat and how stalking needs to be dealt with quickly."

The stage show will now be presented on television as an eight-part series. Gadd will star in the show, with further casting to be confirmed.

A release date for Baby Reindeer is to be announced.
