Bat Out of Hell the Musical extends booking at the London Coliseum

The hit show extends its limited season

Producers of the West End production of Bat Out of Hell - the Musical have announced that the show has extended its booking at the London Coliseum ahead of its official opening. The long-awaited Jim Steinman musical will begin previews on 5 June 2017 ahead of an official opening on 20 June and will now run to 5 August 2017.

Having previously had its world premiere at the Manchester Opera House early this year the show was met with rave reviews and was described by London Theatre as "a shot in the arm for modern musical theatre". The original Manchester run extended due to popular demand and arrives in London for a limited season.

Described as "a romantic adventure about rebellious youth and passionate love, set against the backdrop of a post-cataclysmic city adrift from the mainland" the musical follows Strat, the forever young leader of The Lost who has has fallen for Raven, daughter of Falco, the tyrannical, ruler of Obsidian. As the pair are torn apart their love grows and a battle between the Lost and the establishment leads to a revolution.

Bat Out Of Hell the Musical is based on the best-selling album of the same name which has sold over 50 million copies worldwide. The score features iconic Jim Steinman songs from all three albums including "You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth", "Bat Out Of Hell", "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" and "Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad", as well as two previously unreleased songs, "What Part of My Body Hurts the Most" and "Not Allowed to Love".

The cast of Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical is led by newcomer Andrew Polec as Strat and Christina Bennington as Raven, with Rob Fowler as Falco and Sharon Sexton as Sloane. Also starring are Aran MacRae as Tink, Danielle Steers as Zahara, Dom Hartley-Harris as Jagwire, Giovanni Spano as Ledoux and Patrick Sullivan as Blake, Jemma Alexander, Emily Benjamin, Stuart Boother, Georgia Carling, Natalie Chua, Jonathan Cordin, Amy Di Bartolomeo, Jordan Lee Davies, Olly Dobson, Hannah Ducharme, Isaac Edwards, Phoebe Hart, Linus Henriksson, Rosalind James, Kalene Jeans, Michael Naylor, Eve Norris, Tim Oxbrow, Andrew Patrick-Walker, Benjamin Purkiss, Anthony Selwyn, Courtney Stapleton and Ruben Van keer.

With book, music and lyrics by Jim Steinman the production features direction by Jay Scheib, choreography by Emma Portner, musical arrangements and supervision by Michael Reed, set design by Jon Bausor, costume design by Meentje Nielsen and Jon Bausor, video design by Finn Ross, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestration by Steve Sidwell, casting by David Grindrod Associates and musical direction by Robert Emery.
