It’s been confirmed that a new bio-musical about the rise to fame of the Bee Gees is in the works, and could be eyeing a place in the West End.

The world stage premiere of Bend It Like Beckham, a new British musical adapted from the film of the same name, directed by Gurinder Chadha, opens at the Phoenix Theatre on 24 June 2015, following previews from 15 May - booking to 11 July 2015.
The creative team behind Bend It Like Beckham includes Nigel Lilley for musical direction, Miriam Buether for set design, Aletta Collins for choreography, Katrina Lindsay for costume design, Neil Austin for lighting and Richard Brooker for sound. The cast has yet to be announced.
The show has a new book by Paul Mayeda Berges and Gurinder Chadha, with original music by Howard Goodall and lyrics by Charles Hart.
Synopsis: "Jess needs extra time. She is facing the most important decision of her life; live up to family expectations of university, career and marriage, or follow in the footsteps of her hero David Beckham. When the talented teenage footballer is spotted playing football in Southall, a world of opportunities opens up before her. But as the day of her sister's traditional Indian wedding approaches, Jess needs to pick sides."
The 'Bend It Like Beckham' film was released in 2002 and was also directed by Gurinder Chadha. It starred Parminder Nagra, Keira Knightley, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Anupam Kher, Shaznay Lewis and Archie Panjabi.
Public booking for the show, which is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, opens on 7 November 2014 at 10am.
