Breakfast with Mugabe to close early 27 May 2006

The Royal Shakespeare Company production of Breakfast with Mugabe has posted early closing notices for 27 May 2006.

The play opened for a limited season at the Duchess Theatre 8 May 2006, following previews from 3 May 2006, and was originally booking to 10 June 2006, but will now close 2 weeks early

Breakfast with Mugabe, which has already had short runs at both The Swan Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon & The Soho Theatre in London, stars Joseph Mydell (Robert Mugabe), Noma Dumezweni (Grace Mugabe), Christopher Obi (Gabriel Marunda), David Rintoul (Rajko Peric)

It is directed by Antony Sher (making his directorial debut), with design by Colin Richmond

Tells a startling story. It's election time, 2002, in Zimbabwe, and President Mugabe is battling with mental demons. He seeks help from a white psychiatrist. Set in State House, Harare, the piece explores the conflict between African and European values, and between despotism and liberalism. The psychiatrist, whilst being alternatively threatened and charmed by Mrs Grace Mugabe, attempts the dangerous job of analysing the President...
