Cast update for South Pacific at Barbican Theatre 15 Aug

Cast update for The Lincoln Center Theater New York production of the musical South Pacific , which opens at the Barbican Theatre, London, 23 Aug 2011, following previews from 15 Aug - booking to 1 Oct 2011, before embarking on a UK tour.

Cast includes Samantha Womack (Nellie), Paulo Szot (reprising the role of Emile, for which he won a Tony for his performance at Lincoln centre), Jason Howard (sharing the role of Emile), Daniel Koek ( Lt Joe Cable), Alex Ferns (Luther Billis), Loretta Ables Sayre (reprising her Lincoln Center Tony-nominated performance of Bloody Mary).

The show ran on Broadway from 1 March 2008 to 22 Aug 2010, and won seven Tony Awards.

Music by Richard Rodgers, Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan.

Directed by Bartlett Sher, designed by Michael Yeargan, lighting Donald Holder, sound by Scott Lehrer. Musical Staging by Christopher Gattelli; Music Direction by Ted Sperling; Original Orchestrations by Robert Russell Bennett.

Set during World War II, South Pacific is the sweeping romantic story of two couples, threatened by the realities of war. The score includes Some Enchanted Evening, I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair and There is Nothin' Like a Dame.
