Casting update at The Donmar Warehouse

Further casting has been confirmed for two Donmar Warehouse Theatre productions.

Joining Simon Russell Beale in The Philanthropist, by Christopher Hampton, which opens 13 Sep 2005, following previews from 8 Sep, and booking to 15 Oct 2005, will be Simon Bubb, Siobhan Hewlett, Anna Madeley, Danny Webb. It is directed by David Grindley, designed by Tim Shortall, with lighting by Rick Fisher. The Prime Minister and his cabinet have been assassinated and England's most treasured writers are being murdered one by one. Back at the university, a bachelor don tries hard to please his academic friends as he anguishes over sex, marriage, anagrams and the meaning of life.

 

The cast for The God of Hell, a new play by Sam Shepard, which opens 26 Oct 2005, following previews from 20 Oct, and booking to 3 Dec 2005, will be Ewen Bremner , Ben Daniels, Stuart McQuarrie, Lesley Sharp . It is directed by Kathy Burke, designed by Jonathan Fensom, with lighting by Jason Taylor. Lesley Sharp Frank and Emma are American dairy farmers, alone in the Mid-West. Nothing ever happens. Nothing has happened for years. But now there's a mysterious man hiding in their basement; and a slick government official has come knocking at their door. Pay close attention. It's time to get ready for a bright, new American future and things are going to start moving very, very fast. (Described by Sam Shepard as 'a take-off on Republican fascism', The God of Hell is an uncompromising black comedy which premiered at New York's Actor's Studio for a limited run last year.)
