Both Josefina Gabrielle & Amra-Faye Wright are to return to Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre.
Josefina Gabrielle returns to the role of Roxie Hart from 8 May 2007. This is the sixth season - having prevously played the part for several months in 2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2006. Her other stage credits 'Laurey' in the National Theatre production of "Oklahoma!", both in London and on Broadway, 'Kathy Seldon' in "Singin' in the Rain" at Leicester Haymarket and Sadler's Wells; and 'Alexandra' in "The Witches of Eastwick" at the Prince of Wales.
Amra-Faye Wright returns to the role of Velma Kelly from 7 May 2007. She has prevously played the part on the UK tour and Broadway, as well as the London production in 2005 and 2006.
Susie McKenna ,will take over the role of Mamma Morton from 8 May 2007. Her London stage credits include "Ragtime" at the Piccadilly in 2003,
Other cast members include Michael Simkins (Billy Flynn) and Matthew Lloyd Davies (Amos Hart)
Chicago, opened at the Adelphi Theatre 18 Nov 1997, following previews from 27 Oct 1997, ending at the Adelphi theatre on 22 April 2006. It re-opened at the Cambridge Theatre on 28 April 2006, where it is currently taking bookings to 6 Oct 2007
Chicago, is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Gareth Valentine. It is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie.
The musical concerns Roxie, a chorus girl who has murdered her lover but manages to get acquitted with the help of sleazy lawyer.
