Dancing at Lughnasa announces full cast at Old Vic

The full cast has been announced for Dancing at Lughnasa, by Brian Friel, which opens at the Old Vic Theatre 5 March 2009, following prevciews from 26 Feb - running to 9 May 2009.

Joining previously mentioned Andrea Corr, Niamh Cusack, Michelle Fairley, Susan Lynch are Simone Kirby, Finbar Lynch, Peter McDonald, Jo Stone-Fewings.

It is directed in-the-round by Anna Mackmin, designed by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Paule Constable, choreography by Scarlett Mackmin.

A bittersweet reflection of rural Ireland in the thirties on the brink of industrialisation, Portrait of the five Mundy sisters following their loss of love and opportunity played out against the echoes of the twentieth century.

Andrea Corr (Chris) making her stage debut, is best known as a singer with the band The Corrs. Niamh Cusack (Maggie) many theatre credits include The Enchantment & His Dark Materials at the NT, Breathing Corpses at the Royal Court. Her TV credits include ITV's Heartbeat. Michelle Fairley (Kate) was recently seen in BBC One's drama Lark Rise To Candleford. Simone Kirby (Rose) has most recently appeared in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof at the Corn Exchange. Finbar Lynch (Jack) made his stage debut in Trevor Nunn's Not About Nightingales at the NT and on Broadway. His other stage credits include The Hothouse at the NT. Susan Lynch (Agnes) stage credits include The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot at the Almeida. Peter McDonald (Michael) is most recognisable from his roles in Channel 4's drama City of Vice and the cult comedy Green Wing. Jo Stone-Fewings (Gerry) recently appeared in The 39 Steps at the Criterion Theatre. His aother stage credits include The Country Wife at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
