David Bowie musical Lazarus to open in London

It has been announced that the David Bowie musical Lazarus will transfer to London, following a sold out run at the New York Theatre Workshop in December 2015.

The news was announced this week by producers, with no firm dates or venue yet announced.

Written by David Bowie and Enda Walsh, the musical ran at the New York Theatre Workshop off-Broadway in a sold out run that began in December 2015. The production is directed by celebrated creative Ivo Van Hove, who was recently behind the critically acclaimed production of 'A View From The Bridge' which ran at the Young Vic and in London's West End, as well as The Lyceum Theatre on Broadway. Lazarus feature design by Jan Versweyveld and was inspired by the novel 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' by Walter Tevis.

The musical centers on the character of Thomas Newton, famously portrayed by David Bowie in the 1976 screen adaptation directed by Nicolas Roeg.

The New York production of Lazarus featured costume design by An D'Huys, video design by Tal Yarden, sound design by Brian Ronan, choreography by Annie-B Parson and music direction by Henry Hey.
