David Hunter and Jill Winternitz join cast of Once

David Hunter and Jill Winternitz will join the cast of Once the Musical at the Phoenix Theatre in the lead roles of Guy and Girl from 12 May 2014.

They will take over the roles from Arthur Darvill, and the Olivier Award winning Zrinka Cvitesic, who has been with the West End production since it opened on 9 Apr 2013, following previews from 16 March.

David Hunter was a semi-finalist in Andrew Lloyd Webber's televised search to find a Jesus for his arena tour of 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. His West End credits include 'One Man Two Guvnors' at the National Theatre, on the UK tour and at the Adelphi Theatre, 'Seussical' at the Arts Theatre and 'The Who's Tommy' at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Jill Winternitz trained in the UK at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She made her West End debut starring as Baby in 'Dirty Dancing' at the Piccadilly Theatre.

The full cast from 12 May will include: Fiona Bruce (Baruska), Jamie Cameron (Emcee) Mark Carlisle (Da), Matthew Ganley (Svec), Mathew Hamper (Andre), Daniel Healy (Eamon), Loren O'Dair (Reza), Miria Parvin (Ex-girlfriend), Tim Prottey-Jones (Billy) and Jez Unwin (Bank Manager).

Once the Musical has book by Enda Walsh, and is based on the 2007 motion picture written and directed by John Carney. It features music and lyrics are by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, scenic and costume designs by Bob Crowley, with lighting by Natasha Katz and sound by Clive Goodwin. It is currently booking at the Phoenix Theatre to 4 July 2015.
