Diana Rigg joins cast of Pygmalion at Garrick 12 May

Diana Rigg has been cast as 'Mrs Higgins' in Pygmalion, which opens at the Garrick Theatre on 25 May 2011, following previews from 12 May - booking to 3 Sep 2011.

She joins previously mentioned Rupert Everett (Henry Higgins), Kara Tointon (Eliza Doolittle) and Peter Eyre (Colonel Pickering) .

Diana Rigg's London stage credits include "All About My Mother" at the Old Vic in 2007; "Honour" at the Wyndham's in 2006; "Suddenly Last Summer at the Albery in 2004; "Humble Boy" at the Cottesloe, NT in 2001; "Phedre" and "Britannicus" at the Albery in 1998, and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" at the Aldwych in 1996; "Mother Courage and Her Children" at the Olivier, NT in 1995. She came to international prominence in the 1960s as Emma Peel in the TV series The Avengers and as Tracy Bond in On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Pygmalion, is directed and designed by Philip Prowse.

Egocentric Professor of Phonetics, Henry Higgins, makes a bet with his friend, Colonel Pickering, that he can transform the manners and speech of Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle and pass her off as a society lady.
