Updated: 20th May 2020
The Donmar Warehouse will present their first online production next month. which will receive its premiere on the Donmar Warehouse YouTube channel. Diana Quick will reprise her performance in Adam Brace's one-woman play, Midnight Your Time, available to stream for one week from 13th May 2020 at 7:30pm.
First staged in 2011, the play follows Judy, a mother who engages in a weekly online conversation with her daughter who is in Palestine. Discussing politics, home lives and everything inbetween, Midnight Your Time explores the impact and consequences of communicating remotely.
The role of Judy will be played by Diana Quick, who makes her Donmar debut, albeit virtually. Best known for playing Julia in Brideshead Revisited, her theatre credits include Mother Christmas at the Hampstead Theatre, Electra at the Old Vic and ANNA at the National.
The production is directed remotely by Michael Longhurst, who became the Donmar's artistic director last year. Speaking about the upcoming online production, Longhurst said: "I am thrilled to be able to share this remotely rehearsed and filmed version of Adam's exquisitely crafted portrait of a distanced mother-daughter relationship... Adam's prescient presentation of a then-burgeoning method of digital communication is so entirely a part of our lives under lockdown; and its commentary on ageing and isolation resonate even more profoundly at this time. It has been a... delight to capture her performance in this new medium and in the intimacy of her own home".
The Donmar Warehouse's online production of Midnight Your Time will premiere on 7:30pm on 13th May 2020, where it will be made available to watch until 7:30pm on 27th May 2020.
