A concert performance of The Light in the Piazza will take place later this year. The Light in the Piazza is at Alexandra Palace on 27 November.

Based on the 1960 book of the same name by Elizabeth Spencer, The Light in the Piazza tells the story of a mother and daughter, Margaret and Clara Johnson. As they enjoy their holiday in Italy, Clara falls in love with a local named Fabrizio, but family secrets make their way to the surface.

Elena Shaddow will play Margaret Johnson. She previously played Clara in the 2006 US tour of The Light in the Piazza. Shaddow is joined by Amara Okereke as Clara Johnson and Jordan Luke Gage as Fabrizio Naccarelli. Further casting will be revealed at a later date.

The Light in the Piazza was staged at Royal Festival Hall in 2019, starring Dove Cameron and Renée Fleming. In a five-star review of the musical, our critic said: “The Light in the Piazza is a score of swelling, surging musical joy, full of meltingly lovely arias, laments and a sense of overwhelming feeling.”

Charlotte Conquest directs The Light in the Piazza, and Alex Parker conducts a 15-piece orchestra.
