Long running off-Broadway revue Forbidden Broadway returns to London's Menier Chocolate Factory for a limited summer season, running at the Southbank venue from 19 June to 16 August 2014.

This brand new instalment of the satirical musical theatre comedy revue is written by Gerard Alessandrini and directed by Phillip George. It will be produced in association with John Freedson and Harriet Yellin.

This updated version of the show showcases some of the best productions from both Broadway and the West End, including The Book of Mormon, Once, Matilda, Wicked and Miss Saigon. The off-Broadway production has enjoyed 21 editions with 9 cast albums and is currently playing at The Davenport Theatre under the latest name, 'Forbidden Broadway Comes Out Swinging'.

Forbidden Broadway originally opened off-Broadway in 1982, and has since become a theatrical institution. The franchise has been recognised nationally and internationally, clocking up over 9,000 performances in more than 200 US cities as well as productions in London (including the Menier Chocolate Factory in 2009), Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney.

Casting for the Menier Chocolate Factory's production is yet to be announced.
