Full Cast announced for Anne Boleyn at Globe Theatre

Full casting has been announced for the World premiere of Howard Brenton's Anne Boleyn, which opens at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, from 28 Jul 2010, following previews from 24 July - running to 21 Aug 2010.

Joining previously mentioned Miranda Raison (Anne Boleyn), are Anthony Howell ( King Henry VIII), James Garnon (King James I), Michael Bertenshaw, Sam Cox, John Cummins, Naomi Cranston, Ben Deery, Mary Doherty, John Dougall, Will Featherstone, Peter Hamilton Dyer, Colin Hurley, Amanda Lawrence, Dickon Tyrrell.

It is directed by John Dove, designed by Michael Taylor.

Dramatises the life and legacy of Henry VIII's notorious second wife - exploring both her passion for the King and her love of the most dangerous ideas of her day.

Press statement says: Howard Brenton "sets out to challenge the traditional assumptions of Anne Boleyn as a pawn manipulated by an ambitious father or as a sexually licentious predator, even a witch. Here, Brenton puts a very different Anne on the Globe stage - a witty and confident woman with controversial religious ideals, taking on the vicious world of Tudor politics."
