Full casting for Ain’t Misbehavin’ at Southwark Playhouse

Complete casting for the upcoming production of Ain't Misbehavin' at the Southwark Playhouse has been announced.

The musical celebrates the life of twentieth-century jazz musician Fats Waller during the Harlem Renaissance era in New York which spanned the 1920s. Ain't Misbehavin' will celebrate the swing music of the era, with songs including "The Joint is Jumpin'" and "Honeysuckle Rose".

The cast is made up of five people, including Adrian Hansel, who originated the role of Seaweed in the West End premiere of Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Renée Lamb will also star in the production, previously starring in Six at the Arts Theatre and Little Shop of Horrors at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre.

Carly Mercedes-Dyer, Landi Oshinowo and Wayne Robinson complete the cast.

Ain't Misbehavin' will mark Tyrone Huntley's directorial debut, who is currently starring in Leave to Remain at Lyric Hammersmith. Previous theatre credits include Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, winning an Evening Standard Award.

Oti Mabuse will make her debut as a theatre choreographer, who rose to fame as a professional dancer on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and is currently a mentor on the BBC show The Greatest Dancer.

Ain't Misbehavin' is at Southwark Playhouse from 19th April for seven weeks, with an official opening on 24th April.
