Full casting announced for Jesus Christ Superstar at the Barbican

The complete cast for the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre revival of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Barbican has been announced.

Samuel Buttery will star as King Herod, with previous credits including Fat Blokes at Southwark Playhouse. Matthew Harvey will play Peter and Tim Newman will reprise his performance as Simon from Regent's Park.

The cast is completed by Daniel Bailey, Bernadette Bangura, Robert Bannon, Cyrus Brandon, Melanie Bright, Georgia Carling, Dale Evans, Rosie Fletcher, Luke Hall, Simon Hardwick, Zac Hawkins, Dayle Hodge, Stevie Hutchinson, Cleopatra Joseph, Rachel Moran, Billy Nevers, Tinovimbanashe Sibanda and Elliotte Williams-N'Dure.

They will join the already-named cast members including Robert Tripolino as Jesus, Ricardo Afonso as Judas, Sallay Garnett as Mary, Matt Cardle as Pilate, Cavin Cornwall as Caiaphas and Nathan Amzi and Annas.

The musical follows the last weeks of Jesus' life from his arrival in Jerusalem and feuds with Judas, to his crucifixion. The production features original music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice including 'Superstar' and 'I Don't Know How to Love Him'.

After award-winning performances at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, the production will be revived at the Barbican for 60 performances.

Jesus Christ Superstar is at the Barbican from 4th July to 24th August.
