Fundraiser production in aid of writers in prison

There is a fundraising production of The Beggar's Opera at the Orange Tree Theatre on 22 Jan 03. The evening is in aid of writers in prison and the play will be introduced by Sir Tom Stoppard.

The Writers in Prison Committee of English PEN is joining forces with the Orange Tree Theatre in south London to present the first ever English language production of PEN member Vaclav Havel's play The Beggar's Opera , translated by Paul Wilson and directed by Geoffrey Beevers.
