Further casting joining Michael Ball in Hairspray announced
Marisha Wallace and Lizzie Bea are set to join Michael Ball in the upcoming revival of Hairspray at the London Coliseum.
Wallace, known for her recent West End roles in Waitress and Dreamgirls, will take on the role of Motormouth Maybelle while Lizzie Bea, who makes her West End debut, will play the lead role of Tracy Turnblad.
Michael Ball reprises the role of Edna Turnblad, Tracy's mother, which he played the last time the musical was in the West End in 2009 at the Shaftesbury Theatre, and won the Olivier Award for best actor in a musical for.
Hairspray opens at the London Coliseum on 23rd April, with tickets now available.
With music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, the musical tells the story of a teenager whose dream it is to dance on a local TV programme, and becomes an overnight celebrity.
Directed by Jack O'Brien, the production is choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.
Hairspray is at the London Coliseum from 23rd April to 20th August 2020.
