Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams to make stage debut in new Hampstead season

A new season has been announced the Hampstead Theatre, and the UK premiere of a Tony Award winning play, and the stage debut of Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams.

The Humans, by Stephen Karam, won four Tony Awards in 2016 including Best Play, and is about three generations of one family who gather for Thanksgiving in pre-war Lower Manhattan. Between the three generations must deal with aging, illness and the changing economy between them. The original New York cast will reprise their roles in Joe Mantello's production from 30th August to 13th October.

From 18th October, Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams will make her stage debut in Lauren Gunderson's I and You. Directed by the theatre's artistic director Edward Hall, Williams will play Caroline, who is housebound by illness unable to go to school who spends her days on social media. She develops a friendship with a classmate, who appears unannounced, as a piece of mundane homework reveals more about one another than they had expected.

Three new plays will premiere in the Hampstead Downstairs. Richard Molloy's Every Day I Make Greatness Happens is about three unruly teenagers who rely on a teacher to pass their English GCSE resit. It will be directed by Alice Hamilton from 13th September to 20th October.

Ifeyinwa Frederick's debut play The Hoes follows three childhood friends on a tip to Ibiza in their mid-twenties. It will run from 26th October to 1st December, and will be followed by Paradise by Dusty Hughes. The comedy is set in a seemingly idyllic luxury retirement complex which is taken over by new management. It runs from 7th December to 19th January.
